xTool X1 First Look: What I Saw at the Launch Event
Share
Update, October 12: xTool has now released X1 pricing and the 24.2″ × 12.6″ work area. See my full breakdown: xTool X1 Price vs Buying Separate xTool Lasers.
I was standing right there when xTool pulled the cover off the X1, and I wanted to get my thoughts down while the whole thing is still fresh — before the recap videos and think-pieces start shaping how everybody remembers it. This isn't a full review. xTool hasn't published pricing, work area, or speed numbers yet, so there's a lot I can't tell you. What I can tell you is what I saw with my own eyes on the floor, and where I think this machine is headed.
What xTool Just Announced
The X1 is xTool's new all-in-one laser platform, and the pitch is a machine that combines the reach of a gantry system with the speed of a galvo laser in one box — instead of picking one or the other, which is the tradeoff every laser shop owner has had to make up until now. xTool is calling it "the all-new laser, built for what's next," and from what I saw on stage, that's not just a tagline — combining those two laser types into one machine is a real engineering shift, not a small bump from the last generation.
What I Saw Up Close
One detail I can speak to directly, because I saw it myself: the camera system on the X1 looked the same as, or very close to, the one on my M2. If you've used an M2 and know how that camera handles placement, that's a good reference point for what to expect here — clean, accurate positioning without a lot of guesswork on where your material's actually sitting under the laser.
Every Material, One Machine
xTool had a slide up during the reveal that made the pitch clearer than anything they said out loud — five laser types, side by side: UV, diode, fiber, MOPA, and CO2, each one built for a different material without swapping machines. That's the whole promise of the X1 in one image. Right now, covering that range of materials usually means owning two or three separate lasers. If the X1 delivers on that slide, it's a real answer to a problem every maker who's outgrown their first laser runs into.
What's Still Unknown
Here's what I don't have for you yet, and I'd rather tell you that straight than guess: no price, no confirmed work area, and no confirmed shipping date. xTool said they're targeting an October launch, but that's a target they've stated, not something locked in yet — so take it as "keep an eye out," not "mark your calendar." I'll also say the "mass production" capability I mentioned when I was standing there live was my own read on what I saw, not something xTool stated outright, so hold that one loosely until we get real specs.
Watch My Full Reaction
I posted my on-the-spot reaction the moment I got off the floor — watch it here. The full slide deck and event replay should be out soon, and I'll have a proper breakdown once xTool publishes real specs.
Want the Full Breakdown When It's Ready?
I'm not going to pretend I know everything about the X1 yet — nobody does. But I'll be tracking every spec update as xTool releases them, and I'd rather you hear it from someone who was actually standing on the floor than wait for a press release to trickle down. If you want that update the moment I post it, join my email list and I'll get it to you first.
